Spiders, Penguins & Dinosaurs! Oh My!

21 April 2021

We certainly had a lot to smile about this week at Evolution Childcare! What a week we have had building animal dens, making and colouring pictures of birds, spiders and penguins... and we even had a visit from a friendly T-Rex for Prehistoric Day! Rawr!

The children at our Blackbrook Nursery in Padgate enjoyed some T-rexciting activities for Prehistoric Day… Look who they found wandering around outside of the nursery!

A very friendly T-Rex came to visit the lucky girls and boys, who were very excited and made our special guest feel very welcome... and some of the children even got to try on the dinosaur costume and become a T-Rex too!

Over at The Stables in Lower Whitley, the children were celebrating National Zoo Day and having lots of fun getting creative and messy! The Reception children used junk modelling to create their own animal dens, adding crepe paper to make sure the animals were nice and cosy, and they dipped string in black paint and pulled it in different directions to create their own textured spider pictures.

The staff also made the children sensory animal themed bags, using paint, hair gel, crepe paper and twigs. The children used their physical development skills and their imaginations to rub out the teachers pictures and draw their own. They even changed some of the animals to dinosaurs. Why don't you try some of these activities at home? We would love to see your creations!

The babies at Kalgarth Grange babies had lots of fun with colour this week. They enjoyed reading Handa’s surprise, and pointing at the different colourful animals they saw in the story. They did some bird spotting in the trees around the nursery and went inside to colour pictures of garden birds. The babies practised holding the crayons using the Palmer grasp had lots of fun mark making and creating their own special pictures. After a busy day they chose different songs to sing along with at circle time, promoting personal choice and independence.

The Early Learners had lots of fun this week as well, creating their own penguins for Penguin Day! They used their creative skills to glue and stick their own penguins together, adding eyes, nose, wings and beak!

We can't wait to see what next week will bring!
