Bugs, Mud, Mums and Makaton!

12 March 2021

What a wonderful week it has been! The children have been very busy, going on bug hunts, enjoying messy play, dressing up as our Mums, practising Makaton, and enjoying the lovely warm sunshine out in the lovely gardens!

At The Stables in Whitley, the children in the Baby Room brought the outside inside, and learnt about taking turns to go up and down the slide. The babies have such a lovely bond with each other, and it's lovely watching them all develop together as friends through their interests, and participating in things that they love and enjoy. As soon as the weather improved, the babies were taken outside to our beautiful fun-filled garden to continue developing their gross and fine motor skills, and learning about movement and exploration with different apparatus.

Over at Kalgarth Grange, the children were signing using Makaton. We practise a different sign each week, to promote equality and diversity. Using Makaton promotes language development and encourages children to express themselves. This weeks sign is 'sister'. Can you sign along with Becky?

At The Willows, the children had a fun-filled week, playing with shredded paper, painting, playing outside in the lovely warm sunshine, mirror drawing and dressing up in an array of fancy dress outfits!

At Blackbrook, the children went on a bug hunt outside, and they also got their scientific hats on and began to to explore mirrors. They put mirrors against half images to see what they look like and discovered that the images were bugs! They saw a butterfly, a buzzy bee, a lady bird, a beetle, plus many more.
