Over the past few weeks our reception children at Kalgarth Grange have been learning all about the life cycle of a butterfly - with help from our own special butterflies!
The children have looked after the butterflies from the egg, to the caterpillar, through the cocoon stage, and finally today they were ready to be released into the world! The children have been taking part in various butterfly-related activities, painting their own butterfly pictures and talking about the differences they can see between different species.
The children have been very enthusiastic and have enjoyed talking about the food they have been feeding to the butterflies and how much they have grown. We observed the butterflies one last time before releasing them and the children were so happy when the butterflies landed on their hands to say goodbye!
